Broadcasting and Electronic Media
Broadcasting and Electronic Media Program Overview
The BCT program prepares students for careers in television, CATV, radio, sound recording, multimedia, and commercial photography.
Students acquire both technical and communications skills through academic coursework, production skills training, and on-air experience. Equipment and facilities include: HD television studios and electronic field production equipment, Avid and Apple digital video editing suites, multitrack audio studios, Pro Tools digital audio workstations, photo studios and digital imaging labs.
Flexible degree requirements enable students to prepare to enter the workplace directly or transfer to one of many public and private colleges to continue their education.
In addition, students may choose to specialize by pursuing one of three optional concentrations of study:
- The Photography Concentration (BCTP) (http://mwcc.edu/catalog/degrees-certificates/photography-concentration-bctp/) offers students experience in professional photography. Digital Photography, Portrait Photography, Commercial Photography, Studio Photography, and Photo Compositing are among the courses included in this thorough course of study.
- The Video/Film Concentration (BCTV) (http://mwcc.edu/catalog/degrees-certificates/videofilm-concentration-bctv/) focuses on the techniques and technologies of video, television and film. All aspects of preproduction, production, and postproduction are included in courses encompassing single and multicamera production, digital video editing, and digital cinematography.
