Janice O'ConnorJanice O’Connor, Director of Public Relations for Mount Wachusett Community College, has worked in communications for more than 20 years, including 12 years in higher education public relations. At MWCC, Janice serves as liaison between the college and local, state, national, and trade media. She is editor of MWCC’s e-newsletter and online NewsCenter, and provides content and editorial direction for HIREed magazine and other publications prepared by the Marketing and Communications Division. A former journalist, Janice earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a journalism minor from Western Connecticut State University and a master’s degree in Applied Communication from Fitchburg State University. She is a member of the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations, a professional affiliate of the American Association of Community Colleges.

Jay GearanJay Gearan, an adjunct English instructor at Mount Wachusett Community College since 1986, is a freelance journalist and a correspondent for the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. His articles have also appeared in The Associated Press, The Boston Globe and other New England publications.

Sarah McMasterSarah McMaster manages the college’s brand identity, multi-channeled marketing campaigns, publications, digital media production, and new media. She negotiates and secures media buying, measures the effectiveness of the marketing strategies, and demonstrates the return on investment of all marketing efforts. Sarah is a published writer with experience writing online content.

About Us

We convey MWCC’s value through relationships with media organizations and college staff, and work tirelessly to keep MWCC relevant in the lives of students though new media outreach. We work with advertising sales representatives, news media representatives, and web or social media platforms on an ongoing basis. Our office is the point of contact for college staff on publication design, website content and publicity requests. Public relations, graphic design, new media, and marketing comprise Mount Wachusett Community College’s Marketing & Communications division.
