Computer Information Systems (CIS) Degree options

Prepare for an entry-level career or transfer to a four-year college or university.

  • Desktop Support
    Develop PC and database skills required for entry-level careers in customer service, IT solutions, and technical support centers.
  • Networking Option
    Gain vendor-independent networking skills and concepts required for entry-level employment in information technology or telecommunications.
  • Programming/Transfer
    Gain fundamental skills in programming and databases needed to develop web-based applications. Great if you want to transfer to a four-year college or university to continue studies in CIS.

Service learning: gain experience while helping others

Service learning gives students the opportunity to perform community service as part of club or organization activities, or, as part of coursework for a class. Some service learning projects Computer Information Systems students have participated in include:

  • Student drop-in help center
  • Student-led workshops
  • Student study group sessions
  • LaChance Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation

Working with staff to get computers set up and online and then teaching residents to use the Internet and email.
