Clinical Laboratory Science - Getting Started….

  2. Indicate the degree program you are applying for is GS-CLS
  3. Mail to MWCC with $10.00 application fee
  4. Have high school transcript or GED mailed to college.
  5. If you have courses from other colleges, request official transcripts be sent to MWCC
  6. Once you file the application, you will be notified on your status how to proceed.
  7. If you have not ever taken courses at MWCC, you will take Placement (CPT) tests in reading, writing and math (administered on Gardner campus). (Specific information will be distributed upon acceptance to the college.) The results will determine appropriate math and English courses.

  9. If you are planning to major in CLS and you are currently enrolled at MWCC, you should go the records office to change you major to GS-CL for tracking and advising purposes. (If you change your mind about this field of study later, this designation can be easily modified.)
  10. Consider registering for CLS 101 and CHE 203 in the fall 2006 since there is only one section of each of these courses and are only offered in the fall.
  11. Attend a CLS Information Session held monthly (contact enrollment center or Chris Kisiel for next date and location) prior to any CLS courses.
  12. Prior to enrolling in CLS 101, students must arrange for a tour of the Heywood Hospital laboratory. Please call Terri Botti, Laboratory Manager, at 978-630-6397 to make an appointment.
  13. A reflective writing is assigned as part of the laboratory tour (see above) and is used as a writing sample in the admission process to CLS.
  14. Only after all GS-CLS courses (first year of curriculum) are complete, are students enrolled as CLS majors (2nd year/clinical component). Application to CLS would occur early in the spring prior to the fall CLS courses.
