The orange-dotted Forest Ecology Trail leads
walkers and hikers through a typical Central
New England woodlot containing a variety of ecosystems
from stands of hemlock and pine to wetlands and
rocky outcrops.
The forest stands at MWCC range from 60 to 100
years in age. The most common tree species present
are: white pine, eastern hemlock, red maple,
northern red oak, American beech, and red pine.
Also, white-tailed deer, wild turkey, beaver,
porcupines, red fox, red and gray squirrels and
chipmunks have all been observed on the property
or left their marks.
