You are a “Guest Student” If:

  • You’re a current student at another college/university who wants to take a class or two at MWCC
  • You want to transfer credit back to your current institution
  • Your transcript(s) show successful completion of pre-requisite courses
  • You’re not seeking financial aid and plan to pay out of pocket for your classes
  • You’re not planning to declare a major here at MWCC

Guest Students Do Not Need to Attend a SMART Start, but They Must:

  1. Apply to MWCC
  2. Obtain a transcript from your current college/university
    NOTE: In order to register for most courses, your transcript(s) will need to demonstrate successful completion of pre-requisite courses at your current college/university. For example, if you wanted to register for ENG 102 and transfer it back to your current college/university, your transcript needs to show successful completion of ENG 101 (or its equivalent).
  3. Set up your MWCC iConnect and email accounts (instructions below)
  4. Make an appointment to meet one-on-one with an advisor – bring your transcript(s) with you!
    NOTE: If you are unable to come to campus, a phone appointment or email with Admissions (978-630-9110 or or Advising (978-630-9109 or is possible as long as your MWCC iConnect and email accounts have been set up.

Next Steps:

  • Activate your iConnect account (And learn how to use it)
    1. Go to iConnect
    2. Click “Activate Your Account”
    3. Fill in the form and submit (write down your username and password)
    4. You will use iConnect to:
      • Access online course content
      • Check and pay your bill
      • Check your schedule and find your books
  • Activate your MWCC email account
    1. Log into iConnect
    2. Click the Gmail icon under “My Apps”
    3. Enter the captcha code and submit
    4. Your MWCC email account:
      • is your official means of communication with MWCC and you should check it daily
        NOTE: if you prefer email goes to another account, you can set up forwarding by clicking the “Settings” button
      • will be your iConnect (e.g. if your username is “tjones” your email will be
  • Make payment arrangements
    • You can pay in full or via a payment plan
    • Guest Students are not eligible for Financial Aid
    • Payment can be made in person (cash, check or credit card) at the Student Accounts Office or online through iConnect (Choose Pay My Bill)
  • Review the Academic Calendar
    • Find it on our website or iConnect (right hand side)
    • Review important dates and their definitions such as the end of the Add/Drop period and last date to withdraw from a class

    1. Log into iConnect
    2. Click the Webconnect icon under “My Apps”
    3. Use WebConnect to:
      • Access your Student Records
      • View your Class Schedule and Final Grades
      • View/Print your Unofficial Transcript
      • View your bill and payment history
  • Access Blackboard
    1. Log into iConnect
    2. Click the Blackboard icon under “My Apps”
    3. Blackboard is:
      • MWCC’s Online Learning management program (similar to Moodle)
      • Accessed by using your iConnect user name and password
      • Utilized differently by each professor, talk to them about their expectations
