Welcome to the MWCC Nursing program, where we offer an exciting pathway for aspiring nurses through our CNA to LPN Walkway. This unique opportunity is designed for students eager to kickstart their journey into the Practical Nursing program.

By completing the required CNA walkway courses at MWCC with the necessary grades, students will earn automatic acceptance into the Practical Nursing program, paving the way for their future success in the field.

To begin the journey on our CNA to LPN Walkway, students must attend a Selective Programs Info Session and complete the LPN Application. It’s that simple to take the first step towards a rewarding career in nursing!

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVNs) have the potential to earn an average annual salary of $61,041. With a growing demand for qualified and licensed practical nurses, graduates of our program can expect abundant job opportunities in the healthcare industry. Minimum Requirements:

Students wishing to participate in the CNA to LPN Walkway should complete the General Application. Students will meet with an advisor to ensure the criteria below have been met. Once the requirements have been completed, the LPN Application can be submitted.

  • Verification of completion of High School (or equivalent)
  • TEAS Exam: As of Jan 1, 2023 all TEAS scores for Nursing may be no more than 12 months old at the time of the application deadline.

Candidates must take the TEAS Exam at MWCC with the following minimum scores:

  • Reading (54.8%)
  • Math (50.0%)
  • English (53.3%)
  • Science (35.4%)

Required Courses to be completed before the LPN course of study:

  • PSY 105-Intro to Psychology
  • MAT 126 Complete with a C+ or higher (<10years)
  • NUR 117- Nurse Assistant Theory: With (B) or higher
  • ENG 101- College Writing I
  • BIO 152- Essentials of A&P: (C+ or higher)
  • PSY 110- Human growth and Development
  • HEA 106- Exploring Health Careers: With (B) or higher

*Students enrolled before Fall 2023 must have completed both NUR 117 and NUR 118 with a B+ or higher in both classes.
