On Friday, October 21st the Tea Time Speaker Series presents Gender Identity and Understanding LGBTQIA+ presented by Greater Boston PFLAG. Location: Mount Wachusett Community College Gardner, MA (main campus) South Cafe. Time: 11:00-1:00pm
Your sexual orientation and gender identity is an important part of who you are. In 2022, understanding identity and sexuality can be challenging. For some, gender can be fluid, and many believe that the biological parent should refrain from reinforcing traits associated with the child’s gender at birth, instead by allowing the child to develop into the gender they are comfortable with.
The language around gender and sexuality continues to evolve rapidly. Learning more about gender, gender identity, and sexual orientation can help you understand yourself and the world around you. The language that is associated gender and sexuality continues to evolve rapidly. Therefore, learning which words or phrases that are most accurate, respectful, and useful is an important goal for classroom and workplace interactions.
In this workshop, you will learn key terms and concepts for understanding gender diversity, sexual orientation, and for communicating with your students and colleagues.
