RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSOCIATE 1, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, to join the laboratory of Phillip A. Sharp. Will provide technical support for an ongoing interdisciplinary project at the forefront of cancer research under the supervision of a postdoctoral fellow. This is a technology development project at the interface of molecular biology, biochemistry, and chemistry. Will assist with experiments supporting research in the development of novel single-cell technologies. Responsibilities include executing and optimizing ongoing experiments; analyzing results and designing follow-up experiments based on the results; presenting findings and insights at group meetings; recording and organizing data generated from the experiments in a clear, concise, and accessible format; culturing cells of murine embryonic stem cells and various cancer cell lines; and processing cell materials for preparation of RNA sequencing libraries.
REQUIRED: High school diploma or its equivalent; exposure to general laboratory practices and procedures; excellent problem-solving and organizational skills; self-motivation; ability to work both independently and as part of a team; and a commitment to producing high quality work. PREFERRED: bachelor’s degree; experience in a laboratory environment and with techniques that include cloning (including Topo and restriction cloning), western blotting, PAGE, reverse transcription, and quantitative PCR; basic understanding of Illumina sequencing technology, fluorescent microscopy, and flow cytometry; and familiarity with computational languages such as R and Python.
