Mount Wachusett Community College Hosts Backpack Drive And Provides Service Prior To Start Of Fall Semester

GARDNER–The Mount Wachusett Community College Office of Student Life and The Senator Stephen M. Brewer Center for Civic Learning and Community Engagement conducted its annual backpack and school supply drive to benefit area children in foster care. Leadership Academy students assembled over 60 donated backpacks on their day of service, Wednesday, August 21.  Backpacks were donated to Leominster DCF (Department – Children & Family).

In addition, students cleared the hiking trail behind the Garrison Center, cleared the hiking trail at Heywood Hospital and many other service projects throughout the day totaling 87 hours of service by 29 student leaders.
