Have you recently thought about changing your career? Well, your time is now at Mount Wachusett Community College.

With MassReconnect, you don’t have to worry about loans or debt, because it is free! MassReconnect is a Massachusetts state initiative to fund free community college for adults 25 and older who either have not attended college, or didn’t finish a degree. You can also get credit for your prior learning/work experience, further accelerating your education.

What is MassReconnect?

MassReconnect funds free community college for adults 25 and older who do not already have a college degree.

Who is eligible for the MassReconnect Free Community College Program?

Massachusetts residents 25 years of age or older can take advantage of this life-changing opportunity to earn an associate degree or certificate for free at one of the Commonwealth’s 15 public community colleges:

Eligible individuals must:

Be 25 or older on the first day of classes
Physically reside in MA for at least one year, as of the start of the enrolled term, with an intent to remain in MA consistent with the Board of Higher Education policy.
Have approved status as a “High School Completer” per the MA tuition equity law or be a US Citizen, permanent legal resident, or non-citizen eligible under Title IV regulations.
Have not previously received an associate or bachelor’s degree or the equivalent.
Enroll in at least six credits per semester in an approved program of study leading to an associate degree or certificate.
Maintain satisfactory academic progress according to the college’s requirements.
Complete the 23 – 24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

MassReconnect eligible students are:

  • 25+ years old
  • Have been a Mass. resident for at least 1 year
  • Have a high school diploma or GED/HiSET
  • Have not previously earned a college degree
