Did you start your college journey at Mount Wachusett Community College and then transfer to another institution before earning your associate degree? You may be closer to graduation than you think.
Through MWCC’s Reverse Transfer program, eligible former students can apply credits earned at their current college toward completing a certificate or associate degree from MWCC. It’s a great way to receive recognition for the work you’ve already completed and add a valuable credential to your résumé.
What Is Reverse Transfer?
Reverse Transfer allows students who began their studies at MWCC and later transferred to another accredited college or university to have their credits reviewed for degree completion at MWCC.
Even if you’re currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree elsewhere, you may be eligible to earn an associate degree or certificate from MWCC along the way.
Who Is Eligible?
You may qualify for Reverse Transfer if you:
- Were officially enrolled in a program at MWCC
- Have credits that will fit into our current IDS or Liberal Arts Degree Program
- Have not already earned an associate degree
- Completed at least 50% of the required credits for your MWCC program at MWCC (cannot include credits you have already transferred to MWCC)
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher
- Are in good financial standing with the College
These eligibility requirements apply to students attending any accredited college or university.
Why Consider Reverse Transfer?
Earning an associate degree can provide several benefits, including:
- A recognized college credential while completing your bachelor’s degree
- Enhanced employment opportunities and résumé credentials
- Recognition for academic achievements already completed
- A milestone worth celebrating on your educational journey

Important Note About Selective Programs
Reverse Transfer is not available for selective admission programs. If you were previously enrolled in a selective program and would like to continue your studies, please contact the Admissions Office to discuss readmission options.
Your educational journey doesn’t have to follow a straight line. If you’ve transferred from MWCC and continued your studies elsewhere, take a moment to see whether you’ve already earned enough credits to complete a degree. You may be closer to graduation than you realize.
