Our Accreditation

Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC) is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (formerly the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Inc.).

Accreditation of an institution of higher education by the Commission indicates that it meets or exceeds criteria for the assessment of institutional quality periodically applied through a peer review process. An accredited college or university is one which has available the necessary resources to achieve its stated purposes through appropriate educational programs, is substantially doing so, and gives reasonable evidence that it will continue to do so in the foreseeable future. Institutional integrity is also addressed through accreditation.

Accreditation by the Commission is not partial but applies to the institution as a whole. As such, it is not a guarantee of every course or program offered, or the competence of individual graduates. Rather, it provides reasonable assurance about the quality of opportunities available to students who attend the institution.

Automotive Technology

The Automotive Technology program has National ASE Certification in the areas of brakes, electrical/electronic systems, engine performance, and suspension and steering from the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF), in accordance with standards developed and recognized by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

Dental Hygiene

The Dental Hygiene program is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, which is a specialized accreditation body recognized by the United States Department of Education. Paramedic

The Mount Wachusett Community College Paramedic program has been issued a Letter of Review by the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP Executive Office). This letter is NOT a CAAHEP accreditation status. It is a status signifying that a program seeking initial accreditation has demonstrated sufficient compliance with the accreditation standards through the Letter of Review Self Study Report (LSSR) and other documentation. Letter of Review is recognized by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) for eligibility to take the NREMT’s Paramedic credentialing examination(s). Practical Nurse

The PN Certificate is approved by the Massachusetts Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing: ACEN; 343 Peachtree Road, NE, Suite 500, Atlanta, GA 30326 800-669-1656, ext. 153 or website acenursing.org. Graduates take the National Council Licensure Exam for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN).

Veterinary Technology

MWCC’s Veterinary Technology Program was granted initial accreditation by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Committee on Veterinary Education and Activities (CVTEA) effective September 13, 2019.  Students who graduate from this program are eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE).  Upon obtaining a successful passing score on the VTNE, an individual will be granted Veterinary Technician credentialing.
