High School Juniors & Seniors:

Earn college credits through Dual Enrollment courses at MWCC. This program allows you to earn credit toward a high school/homeschool diploma and college degree simultaneously, saving you time and money toward your college degree.

Dual Enrollment offers a unique true-to-life academic college experience, allowing the student to focus on courses that will be transferable to most two-year and four-year public and private institutions, while simultaneously completing their high school graduation requirements.

Selected students are enrolled in either a part-time or full-time college-level course load depending on their program and course needs. Dual Enrollment students are considered MWCC students and as such will be awarded the same academic support privileges as other MWCC students. Courses are limited and applicants from local high schools are given priority.

Academic Credit & Transcripts

Transferable to most two and four-year public and private institutions. In addition, students will receive credit from their high school to meet graduation requirements. Students are responsible for ensuring that MWCC college coursework will be acceptable for secondary school diploma completion through their guidance counselor. All dual enrollment students are responsible for requesting their official MWCC Transcript through the MWCC Records Office by completing the Transcript Request Form at the end of their academic experience with MWCC. MWCC does not send official transcripts to student’s high schools or to other institutions unless the Transcript Request Form is completed. Unofficial copies of transcripts are available to students through their MWCC iConnect accounts.

Advising & Registration

  • Students will meet with their MWCC advisor to register for their classes and throughout the semester as needed
  • Registration priority: We will make sure that high school students meet their high school requirements before placing them into additional courses. (Completion of the applicant’s Education Information by Guidance is vital in establishing course needs and acts as a contract between MWCC and the sending high school.)

Application Process

NOTE: Due to the selective and competitive nature of the dual enrollment program, not all applicants who apply to the program will be admitted to the College. The average applicant has a 3.2 high school GPA. The minimum cumulative GPA for full-time students is 2.8 and 2.5 for part-time

  • Interested students are encouraged to attend an Information Session before applying (parents/guardians are welcome too!)
  • First-time applicants must apply for full semester course and are ineligible for online or cycle (7-week) courses, unless approved by an MWCC advisor.
  • Applications require both parent/guardian and guidance counselor/home school educator approval.
  • MWCC Dual Enrollment students are placed into courses via a variety of measures. These include but are not limited to GPA, SAT, ACT and PSAT. Students must place into ENG101 and MAT126 based on one of those measures.
  • Applicants are required to participate in a personal interview and must sign a student contract prior to receiving an Admissions decision.
  • Applicants will be notified of their Admissions decision by mail at the completion of all steps.

Cost

  • Students enrolled in this program are non-matriculated students, must pay all college tuition/fees, and are ineligible for financial aid while they are enrolled in high school
  • Additional costs may include books, lab fees and materials
  • Students are responsible for their own transportation

Participation

  • If the student’s GPA falls below a 2.0 during any one semester, they will be ineligible to continue
  • A student who does not successfully complete all of their courses within a given semester may be subject to re-evaluation or dismissal
  • Advancement from part-time to full-time status is granted after successful completion of current course load (per Admissions and guidance approval)
  • Enrollment status and course load for future semesters will be evaluated based on the student’s most recent semester
  • Students must comply with all MWCC student policies as outlined in the MWCC Student Catalog
