Complete Your FAFSA Today

The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is the form students complete to apply for financial aid, including grants, scholarships, work-study, and federal student loans. Submitting the FAFSA is the first step in determining what financial aid you may qualify for to help pay for college.

If you haven’t yet, now is the time to apply. Completing the FAFSA early helps you receive your financial aid offer sooner.

What To Expect

Apply as soon as possible for the school year. Fall, spring, and summer terms are all part of the same academic year. Summer financial aid is awarded later in the spring if you are registered for summer courses.

Financial aid awards are based on full-time enrollment, but your aid will only pay for the credits you actually attend.

Be sure to check your financial aid checklist and watch for emails from Student Financial Services in your MWCC email account.

Who Can Apply?

Most students can apply for financial aid if they complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), are accepted into a degree or certificate program, are a U.S. citizen or eligible resident, show financial need, and stay in good academic standing.

Special Circumstances

If your family’s financial situation has changed, we may be able to review your FAFSA and adjust your aid. Examples include job loss, medical expenses, or other major life changes. Contact Student Financial Services if you need help.

Get Started – Create Your FSA ID

Before completing the FAFSA, you should create an FSA ID on the Federal Student Aid website. This is your username and password for signing and submitting federal aid forms online.

Your FSA ID allows you to:

  • Complete and sign the FAFSA
  • Sign loan documents
  • Complete loan counseling
  • Explore repayment options

If you already have an FSA ID, you do not need to create a new one.

Estimate Your Aid

You can also use the Federal Student Aid Estimator to get an early estimate of your Student Aid Index (SAI) and the types of federal aid you may qualify for.

The Massachusetts Application For State Financial Aid (MASFA)

The Massachusetts Application for State Financial Aid (MASFA) helps eligible students apply for state financial aid in Massachusetts. MASFA was created to support students, including undocumented students, who may not qualify for federal financial aid. Students who meet Massachusetts high school attendance and graduation requirements may be eligible for in-state tuition and state financial aid programs. Review the eligibility requirements and learn how to apply through MASFA
