Favorite thing about teaching
The fact that every year I get to meet lots of new people who teach me often as much as I hope I teach them.

Why science?
I love teaching people how the amazing world around them works and in doing so hope that they come to appreciate the incredible planet we live on and instill in them a desire to explore, learn more and protect it for the rest of their lives.

Hobbies and interests
Sailing, skiing, hiking, travel, gardening, music

Favorite thing about teaching
Students. I can teach a class for 12 hours a day or for a decade straight and it never gets old. Every class has a different vibe, new stories, unique life experiences. Every class comes in with new questions, new ideas and new photos of pustulant infections they want me to diagnose.

Why science?
I can’t do art and I was afraid my novel would never sell.

Hobbies and interests
True crime, particularly forensics.

I get excited and passionate about the material and try to convey that to my students.

Why science?
It’s rational, verifiable, and helps to explain the natural world.

Favorite thing about teaching
I love being able to share my love of science with other people in a way that changes their lives.

Why science?
Why not? I liked science and math in high school. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to be “when I grew up,” so I decided to go with something I liked –
science. As my son said “because you love science!”

Hobbies and interests

Favorite thing about teaching
A student’s excitement when they realize they understand a difficult topic or they have accomplished something they didn’t think was possible.

Why science?
I enjoy finding solutions to problems. Science (chemistry) is fundamental to all things around us and
demonstrates how systems are interconnected. Chemistry and Quality Engineering provided flexibility throughout my career, which included drinking water,
food manufacturing, auto emissions and medical devices.

Hobbies and interests
Exploring NE on my motorcycle, hot glass arts: bead making and fusing, jewelry making and bead weaving, embroidery arts, Scrabble, Sudoku and logic puzzles
