The Mount’s broad program in automotive service technology combines specialized training with hands-on experience. Our auto tech grads learn the latest vehicle technologies and skills from trained industry professionals, setting them up for immediate employment.

The Automotive Technology Program at the Mount provides students with the opportunity to earn a Certificate in Automotive Technology or an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology. Upon completion of either program, students are prepared for positions in automotive and other related fields. During the course of study, students will develop skills and competencies in diagnostics and repair. Students will gain the knowledge they need to prepare for ASE Certification.

Automotive technology includes any careers related to the inspection, maintenance, or repair of a vehicle. Today, with more technology in cars and other vehicles than ever before, entering the automotive technology field demands mechanical engineering and other courses designed to keep you abreast of new developments. Auto mechanic technology is an exciting industry with lots of room for growth.

An experienced Automotive Technician with an automotive education and hands-on experience can earn in excess of $100,000.00 annually. Employers are searching for qualified automotive service techs, increasing job opportunities for graduates of our program. The automotive service field is expected to grow 6%** over the next ten years.

Hands-On Auto Tech Experience At The MWCC Garage

In the automotive technology certificate program, students receive hands-on experience in our new 11,000 square foot, 8-bay garage. MWCC auto tech students learn how to diagnose and repair the following:

  • Electrical/electronic systems
  • Engine performance
  • Engine damage
  • Automatic transmissions and transaxles
  • Manual drive train and axles
