A decision to close or delay the opening of MWCC campuses will be made based on the best information available regarding road conditions, accessibility of the campus (parking lots and sidewalks) and operational status (heat and electricity).
Every effort will be made to make this information available for day students by 5:30 AM and for evening students by 2:30 PM via the following channels:
- College homepage: mwcc.edu
- Alerts Facebook page
- MWCC Alerts on the MWCC mobile app (see download options on this page)
- Recorded message by calling 978-632-6600, option 8
In addition to notices posted to the three primary channels listed above, MWCC also shares information with the following news outlets. Although they are posted as soon as decisions are made, they may appear later.
- WBZ-TV Channel 4
- WCVB Channel 5
- WHDH TV Channel 7
- WFXT 25-Fox,
- WMUR—New Hampshire
- WTAG/WSRS 96.1 FM
- WBZ News Radio 1030 AM
- WPKZ 105.3 FM and The Pulse 1280 AM

- Evening classes and activities start at 4:00 PM or later.
- Doors will be unlocked an hour before the college officially opens.
If college courses and activities are canceled, only “essential personnel” and assigned non-unit professional staff must report to work. See your supervisor with any questions.
MWCC students participating in clinical, practicums, service learning or other activities at other sites may be required to report. Faculty and program coordinators will inform students at the beginning of each semester of their inclement weather protocol.
Staff & Faculty
In the event that the campuses are closed due to inclement weather or other type of emergency, all essential personnel as defined in the AFSCME contract are required to report to work in accordance with Article 10, Section 14. Employees not designated as emergency/essential personnel should not report to work and all scheduled meetings and events will also be canceled and should be rescheduled. Mount Fitness employees should report to work as scheduled if the center is open.
In the event of a delayed opening, the media announcement will include the time that offices will open. When the college opens, all employees are expected to report to work for the remainder of their work schedule/shift. When the college reopens, Human Resources will be sending out instructions for how to code your time in Self Service Time and Attendance.
Employees not expected to be present due to previously authorized leave time (including but not limited to bereavement, vacation, personal or sick) shall be recorded as such and shall not be entitled to use the weather/emergency code.
If you need to change/alter your attendance on a Monday, we ask that you please contact Human Resources. Changing your attendance on a Monday could result in you being short-paid. If you are unsure of the timeframe, please do not hesitate to call Human Resources.
We strongly urge that employees listen to the various news outlets for announcements. If you must call the college, please use the following telephone number 978-632-6600, option 8.
Your understanding and cooperation during the winter months are greatly appreciated.
