Civic Engagement & Community Leadership

Be a Leader in your Community

The Civic Engagement and Community Leadership concentration in our Liberal Arts program gives students who have a passion for their communities a path to learn to become better leaders. The study of civics prepares students to become knowledgeable, responsible, active participants in our democracy. Core courses include classes like History of the Constitution, Macroeconomics, The Business of Social Change, and Ethics. The Civic Engagement & Community Leadership program encourages students to lead social change in a way that respects individual rights and responsibilities, the common good, human dignity, and the democratic process.

Make a Difference

“A small body of determined spirits fired by an unquenchable faith in their mission can alter the course of history.” – Mahatma Gandhi

This program can be life-changing. Civic Engagement & Community Leadership students have the added option to incorporate a service learning component into their classes. Students who take these enhanced courses apply their skills to solve a real problem and promote justice in the local community by working directly with a social service agency, charity, or nonprofit organization.
