Testing Services at MWCC
The mission of MWCC Testing Services is to provide the campus community with securely monitored testing venues that support the ongoing learning process.
Friends, family, and guests may not accompany test-takers into the testing room. Anyone not testing, including parents and children, must wait outside the Testing Services Office. Please read more about policies for MWCC Guests and Visitors on Campus.
Because of the close confines and size of the testing center space, Testing Services strongly encourages all test-takers to wear masks in the Center.
We offer the following Tests and Services:
ACCUPLACER
ACCUPLACER is a College Board placement exam used to ensure your placement in an academic course or in an ESL course that is best for you. Before electing to take an ACCUPLACER test, consult with an Advisor (Advising, advisor@mwcc.mass.edu, 978-630-9109) to discuss the multiple measures and guided self-placement options that should be used first.
How to Register: ACCUPLACER is offered by computer and takes approximately 2 hours to complete. Walk in to Testing Services, call 978-630-9244, or email testingservices@mwcc.mass.edu to register.
On Test Day:
- Plan for a 2-hour exam period. Completion times may vary.
- Bring a valid Photo I.D. to present to the proctor: license, student ID card, high school ID, passport, driver’s permit, etc.
- Food, beverages, calculators, electronic devices, or personal items will not be permitted in the testing room. Storage space will be provided.
- Scrap paper and a pencil will be provided.
- Friends, family, and guests may not accompany test-takers into the testing room. Anyone not testing, including parents and children, must wait outside the Testing Services Office. Please read more about policies for MWCC Guests and Visitors on Campus.
- Because of the close confines and size of testing spaces, Testing Services strongly encourages all test-takers to wear masks.
Accommodations: If you require accommodation, please be sure to visit MWCC Disability Services to secure accommodation prior to sitting for your exam.

ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills)
Description: ATI TEAS is a standardized test designed specifically to assess your preparedness for health sciences. It is a required exam for admission to Associate-level programs and certificates in Nursing and Physical Therapy. The test MUST be taken at an MWCC Testing Services location; scores are not accepted from other testing sites. Scores are valid for 1 year from the test date.
How to Register: Register for your exam at www.atitesting.com. Please see the ATI site for current pricing. MWCC Testing Services cannot register you for this exam. Three attempts are allowed within 365 days from the first attempt. Retesting requires an additional registration and test fee for each attempt.
Students should check www.atitesting.com to confirm available MWCC TEAS testing dates at our Gardner and Leominster locations.
On Test Day:
- Be certain to bring your ATI username and password written down—you may not have digital access.
- Bring a valid Photo I.D. to present to the proctor: license, student ID card, high school ID, passport, driver’s permit, etc.
- Food, beverages, calculators, electronic devices, or personal items will not be permitted in the testing room. Storage space will be provided.
- Scrap paper and a pencil will be provided.
- Use of unapproved materials will invalidate your test and score.
- Friends, family, and guests may not accompany test-takers into the testing room. Anyone not testing, including parents and children, must wait outside the Testing Services Office. Please read more about policies for MWCC Guests and Visitors on Campus.
- Because of the close confines and size of testing spaces, Testing Services strongly encourages all test-takers to wear masks.
- Scores are instantly available following the test
- Absent applicants will have to register and pay the full fee again.
Accommodations: If you require accommodation, please be sure to visit MWCC Disability Services to secure accommodation before registering for your exam. Accommodated TEAS are only given during the morning.

CLEP (College Level Examination Program)
Description: CLEP is a nationally recognized, standardized test used to grant college credit for a variety of courses and disciplines. After taking a CLEP exam title, a 3-month waiting period is required before that title may be retaken. This is a Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) option.
How to Register: There are three steps in the registration process.
- Visit the Advising, Career, and Transfer Office (advisor@mwcc.mass.edu, 978-630-9109) to determine which CLEP tests are appropriate for you.
- Register on the CLEP website. Both the College Board and MWCC have fees for this test. Pay the CLEP fee when you register.
- After registering, email testingservices@mwcc.mass.edu to join our waitlist. Exams that include the optional essays must be scheduled 2 weeks in advance.
On Test Day:
- Be certain to bring your printed registration ticket—you may not have digital access.
- Bring a valid government-issued Photo I.D., such as a driver’s license or passport, to present to the proctor.
- Be prepared to pay a $20 MWCC testing fee by exact cash or check only.
- Food, beverages, personal calculators, electronic devices, or personal items will not be permitted in the testing room. Storage space will be provided.
- Scrap paper and a pencil will be provided.

DSST (Dantes Subject Standardized Tests)
Description: DSST is a nationally recognized, standardized test used to grant college credit in several courses and disciplines. After taking a CLEP exam title, a 3-month waiting period is required before that title may be retaken. This is a Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) option.
How to Register: There are three steps in the registration process.
- Visit the Advising, Career, and Transfer Office (advisor@mwcc.mass.edu, 978-630-9109) to determine which DSST tests are appropriate for you.
- Register on the DSST website. Both DSST and MWCC have fees for this test, to be paid on the day of the test.
- After registering, email testingservices@mwcc.mass.edu to join our waitlist.
On Test Day:
- Be certain to bring your printed DSST test receipt—you may not have digital access.
- Bring a valid government-issued Photo I.D., such as a driver’s license or passport, to present to the proctor.
- Be prepared to pay both the DSST exam fee and a $20 MWCC testing fee by exact cash or check (bring 2 checks) only.
- Food, beverages, personal calculators, electronic devices, or personal items will not be permitted in the testing room. Storage space will be provided.
- Scrap paper and a pencil will be provided.
- Visit the DSST FAQ pages and individual DSST exam pages to learn more about what to expect.

GED (General Educational Development)
Description: The GED® test is made up of 4 subjects, Mathematics Reasoning, Social Studies, Science, and Reasoning through Language Arts. HiSET (High School Equivalency Test)
Description: Test takers will be tested in five core areas: Language Arts – Reading, Language Arts – Writing, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Pearson VUE
Description: As an authorized Pearson VUE testing site, MWCC Testing Services can administer professional licensure exams, including MTEL and CDA exams.
How to Register: All registration and scheduling are done through Pearson VUE site. You will pay the Pearson VUE exam fee at the time of registration.
On Test Day:
- Bring a valid government-issued Photo I.D., such as a driver’s license or passport, to present to the proctor.
- Food, beverages, personal calculators, electronic devices, or personal items will not be permitted in the testing room. Storage space will be provided.

Testing with Accommodations
Description: MWCC allows students with documented disabilities to take their tests with accommodation. Tests may be taken either with the professor or with Testing Services. All accommodations begin in the Disability Services Office. Student Disability Services will review your documentation and provide you with an accommodation notification letter.
How to Schedule with Your Professor:
- Talk with your professor to see if they will be available to proctor your exam with your accommodations.

- Send a copy of your accommodation notification letter to Testing Services at testingservices@mwcc.mass.edu.
- Speak with your professor before a test is scheduled; remind your professor to send a Teacher Request Form (MWCC Login required) to Testing.
- Once Testing Services has the Teacher Request Form, contact Testing Services (testingservices@mwcc.mass.edu, 978-640-9244) to arrange a time and place for the exam on the Gardner campus. Teacher Request Form Submission Guidelines (for Faculty):
- View this Accommodations Testing Process presentation for faculty to understand the process.
- The Teacher Request Form (MWCC Login required) is in Dynamic Forms. Please fill it out completely.
- Submit one form per test. List all students on the form.
- Each test should include a 3-day window for administration (except Nursing); submit a new form if the window must move.
- Submit the form at least 48 hours before the exam window.

Description: Testing Services provides proctoring for make-up and retests both for students on campus and for distance education.

Proctoring for Distance Education
Proctoring services are available for campus community members and distance learning students enrolled at other institutions. There is a flat rate proctoring fee of $25/day (non-refundable cash or check only). Service is provided by appointment.
