MWCC Toy Drive Assists 60 Families

The third annual Holiday Toy Drive and Fair organized by the Parent Support Group at Mount Wachusett Community College distributed presents to more than 60 families this week.

The toy drive was hosted by MWCC’s Parent Support Group that collected donations during December from faculty, staff, and students. The gently used or new toys, books, games, and holiday decorations were then distributed on Dec. 19 and 20 to families in MWCC and the surrounding community.

“This group is well aware of the need of many of our students, especially around the holidays,” said PSG Advisor Ann Reynolds who is the Academic Disability Counselor/CCAMPIS Coordinator at MWCC. “We held our first Toy Drive three years ago when the club was first formed, and it has grown since.”

These donations can be a huge help during the holidays, especially to student parents. This year the drive was opened up to parents in the community who were thankful to be able to access the resource, said Reynolds.

The PSG hosts three main events on campus every year: The Annual Coat Drive, the Toy Drive and Fair, and the Dress for Success event in the spring.

“I am continually amazed at the generosity of all the people at MWCC. The students of the PSG are dedicated to helping with these events, and show compassion and empathy to their fellow students,” said Reynolds.
