Learn to Use Media to Tell a Story
Are you a natural storyteller dreaming of a career in the dynamic media industry? Are you eager to get hands-on with the conceptual and industrial tools you’ll need to enter fields such as Broadcasting, Journalism, Public Relations, and Advertising? If so, the Media Communications program at Mount Wachusett Community College may be right for you.
This unique program blends writing, theory, and production* courses. You’ll learn theories of human communication and how mass communication influences behavior. Different media formats call for different writing styles, and you will learn to write content for each. You’ll get to go behind the camera where you’ll learn the basics of audio and video production and editing. Finally, you’ll be trained in self-promotion on social media and the web so you can market your skills to employers or the admissions department of your next college or university.
Transition to a Bachelor’s Degree
After you complete the Media Communications program, you will be ready to transition to a four-year college or university where you can earn a bachelor’s degree in fields like Advertising, Business, Communications Studies, Journalism, Marketing, or Public Relations. Since Media Communications is a concentration within the Liberal Arts & Sciences program, your curriculum will include general education requirements such as math, lab science, and social science. This MassTransfer block of courses prepares you to transfer all of your credits to any public college or university in Massachusetts, as long as your grades meet their requirements.
