The Adult Education Program at MWCC offers 3 courses to help prepare students for the HSE exams and prepare their readiness for college-level courses.

• STEM courses help prepare students for the academic content on the science and mathematics sections of the GED and HiSET.
• Humanities courses help build academic literacy skills to prepare students for the reading, writing, and social studies sections of the GED and HiSET.
• Adult Education College Track courses are offered to students with HSE diplomas or HSE diplomas holders who are seeking to build their literacy skills to the college level.

All courses are funded through the Adult Community Learning Center (ACLS) and are provided at No Cost.

The Adult Education Program offers a range of course offerings/modalities in an effort to support the busy lives of adult learners.

• In-person/Hybrid Courses are offered at the Leominster Campus during the daytime hours. Students are expected to come to campus for in-class instruction and complete asynchronous assignments outside of class time.
• Online Courses are offered during the evening which consist of synchronous (face-to-face) instruction with an instructor via Zoom and asynchronous work outside of class time.

All students can receive additional support to be successful with educational technology from our staff at the Mount Wachusett Community College Leominster Campus.  Our Student Support Team is here to teach students the skills necessary to be successful in the classroom.

Students may be placed on a waiting list to start classes depending on available seats in our program. If students are placed on a waiting list they will be notified by our AE staff. While on our waiting list students will be contacted 2 times per year to verify that they are still interested in our courses.

Students considering our AE HSE prep courses should review the 2 HSE exam options in the state of Massachusetts; the GED & HiSET. Currently, students can mix & match their scores between the 2 exams. Please review ACLS DESE’s website for more information on HSE testing options & policies:

Students are encouraged to review HiSET and GED websites prior to starting class and they have the option to create accounts in order to access practice materials.
