The Rotary Club of Gardner donated $2,000 to the Mount Wachusett Community College Foundation last Tuesday in recognition of the ongoing partnership in producing the Rotary’s annual televised auction fundraiser.
“We’re pleased to be able to support the college and the media department that does such a great job,” said Auction Logistics Coordinator Mike Ellis.
The televised auction, which will run for its 32nd year in the first weekend in March, brings together donated items and services from the community that are auctioned off to benefit the Gardner Rotary Club. All funds raised fund charitable initiatives in the city and greater Gardner region.
The telethon-style auction is produced in the broadcast studios at MWCC. Approximately 25 students and the college’s entire Media Arts and Technology team volunteer their time towards producing the auction.
“MWCC is thankful for this donation from the Rotary Club of Gardner as well as the opportunity the yearly auction affords our students to participate in a large-production, live broadcast,” said MWCC Interim Vice President of Academic Affairs Vincent Ialenti.
The next auction is scheduled for the first weekend in March. The auction can be viewed on local cable access station channel 9.
