Mount Wachusett Community College student Vanessa Hill was elected by her fellow Student Government Association members to represent the students of MWCC on the College Board of Trustees and sworn in on October 21 during the virtual Board of Trustees meeting. In addition to her position on the Board of Trustees, she will also serve on the Student Advisory Council, a group comprised of SGA presidents and student trustees from all 29 public institutions in MA.
Hill is pursuing her associate degree in Human Services, after which she plans to transfer to Fitchburg State University for her bachelor’s degree. As a mother to five children, three of whom are also college students and the co-owner of a small business, Hill Investment Designs, Hill is ready to serve the students of MWCC.
“I am delighted to welcome Vanessa Hill to the Board of Trustees,” noted MWCC President James Vander Hooven. “As a non-traditional college student and the parent of traditional students, her experience will benefit the students of MWCC and enhance the perspective she brings to our Board.”
“I want to be a voice for students, to show that students come first and that their needs are met,” said Hill. “Although this is a new experience for me, I feel that I am able to offer a set of skills that can be beneficial. In all, it’s an experience that I am excited about and can’t wait to start learning the process and making a difference.”
The MWCC Board of Trustees is comprised of alumni, local business leaders and educators and the student trustee. The Chairperson for the 2020 – 2021 school is Robert Antonioni, of Antonioni & Antonioni Law Offices.
