Weather and Other Closings
Inclement Weather
A decision to close or delay the opening of MWCC campuses will be made based on the best information available regarding road conditions, accessibility of the campus (parking lots and sidewalks) and operational status (heat and electricity).
If the college decides to cancel or delay, every effort will be made to announce a decision for day classes, campus services, and/or activities by 5:30 AM and for evening classes, campus services, and/or activities by 2:30 PM via the following channels:

MWCC students participating in clinical, practicums, service learning or other activities at other sites may be required to report. Faculty and program coordinators will inform students at the beginning of each semester of their inclement weather protocol.

Please refer to the Mount Fitness Facebook Page for status on their operations.
Staff & Faculty
In the event that the campuses are closed due to inclement weather or other type of emergency, all essential personnel as defined in the AFSCME contract are required to report to work in accordance with Article 10, Section 14. Employees not designated as emergency/essential personnel should not report to work and all scheduled meetings and events will also be canceled and should be rescheduled. Mount Fitness employees should report to work as scheduled if the center is open.
In the event of a delayed opening, the media announcement will include the time that offices will open. When the college opens, all employees are expected to report to work for the remainder of their work schedule/shift. When the college reopens, Human Resources will be sending out instructions for how to code your time in Self Service Time and Attendance.
Employees not expected to be present due to previously authorized leave time (including but not limited to bereavement, vacation, personal or sick) shall be recorded as such and shall not be entitled to use the weather/emergency code.
If you need to change/alter your attendance on a Monday, we ask that you please contact Human Resources. Changing your attendance on a Monday could result in you being short-paid. If you are unsure of the timeframe, please do not hesitate to call Human Resources.
We strongly urge that employees listen to the various news outlets for announcements. If you must call the college, please use the following telephone number 978-632-6600, option 8.
Your understanding and cooperation during the winter months are greatly appreciated.
