On the Frontlines of COVID-19

Mount Wachusett Community College mother and son alumni Heidi (’13) and Branden Burke (’21) have been serving at the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic since early spring.  Heidi traveled and lived in New York City and Texas, and Branden in Texas to working in hospitals hit hard by the COVID -19 pandemic. The pair worked 12-hour shifts, 84 hours a week with a day off every 21 days in challenging conditions.

Both have recently returned from Texas as Branden completes his final year of the Nursing program at MWCC, and prepares to graduate in May 2021. They sat down with MWCC Vice President Enrollment & Public Affairs Lea Ann Scales to share their story as part of the college’s STEM Week events.
