Only Community College in Massachusetts Recognized
Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC) is proud to announce its inclusion on the Military Times 2025 Best for Vets Colleges list, earning national recognition for its commitment to supporting military-affiliated students. MWCC is the only community college in Massachusetts to receive the honor and one of just six colleges statewide included in this year’s rankings.
The Best for Vets list is the largest and most comprehensive annual ranking of schools for veterans and military-connected students. Institutions are evaluated on factors such as academic quality, student support services, career outcomes, and the strength of veteran-focused programs.
“This recognition reflects the Mount’s deep and longstanding commitment to serving those who have served,” said MWCC President James Vander Hooven. “We work every day to ensure that our veteran students receive the resources, respect, and support they deserve as they pursue their educational and career goals.”
MWCC’s Veterans Services, located on the Gardner campus, provides personalized assistance with academic advising, VA benefits, transition support, and connection to community resources, as well as a dedicated Veterans Success Center, offering a comfortable gathering space, study area, and peer support network.
“Our team is honored to support more than 170 military-affiliated students each year,” said MWCC Director of Veterans Services Bob Mayer. “Being named a Best for Vets College underscores the importance of our work and the incredible perseverance of our students.”
For decades, MWCC has maintained strong partnerships with regional military organizations and has been recognized nationally for its support of veteran learners. Inclusion on the 2025 list further demonstrates the college’s continuing commitment to educational access, affordability, and success for those who have served or continue to serve.
