The first step in applying for financial aid from the state of Massachusetts, the US Government, or the MWCC Foundation is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA form is available online, and the quickest way to apply is via the phone app or at the FAFSA website. You may also complete a paper FAFSA and apply through the mail, but this takes 4-6 weeks.
You must list MWCC’s federal school code on the FAFSA. Our code is 002172.
You can apply for FAFSA any time starting October 1 of your senior year in high school and in each subsequent year in college. The earlier you file your FAFSA for the school year, the better.
May 1, 2020:Deadline to file FAFSA to get MASSGrant aid from the state of Massachusetts. In light of the many challenges presented by COVID-19 for students and families, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts has chosen to extend its 2020-2021 FAFSA filing priority deadline date from May 1 to July 1. This change in policy will largely impact students who are applying for the MASSGrant program.
- No matter when you apply, please allow at least 3-4 weeks before the start of classes for all paperwork to be finalized.
- Remember, you must file your FAFSA every school year.
Returning your Application & Verification Forms:
Use the convenient Dynamic Forms to complete and return your forms
A document called a Student Aid Report (SAR) is returned to you indicating your eligibility. This SAR is also sent electronically to the MWCC Office of Financial Aid and constitutes the application for student financial assistance. When the SAR is received, the MWCC Financial Aid Application and verification materials will be sent to you.
Please complete all requested financial aid forms online or through the Dynamic Forms. Completed forms will be automatically emailed to the MWCC Financial Aid Office and the student.
Please only submit forms requested directly by the MWCC Office of Financial Aid, since not all applicants are required to fill out every form.
Once your financial aid is awarded, you will receive an email on your MWCC e-mail account asking you to view your award online on WebConnect. No award letter or additional mail will be sent to you; everything is online. Late applicants will have their applications considered for an award on a rolling basis.
