The Link is a volunteer resource founded by two MWCC students in recovery from substance abuse, The Link was created to act as a liaison connecting the recovery population of North Central MA to MWCC (and vice versa). It is centered around a peer-to-peer mentorship model designed to support current and prospective students in recovery as they enter or re-enter the college environment.
Who Does The Link Serve?
Anyone in the MWCC community who may be struggling with substance dependence:
- Prospective students
- Current students
- Staff and faculty
How Does The Link Work?
- The Link is centered around peer-to-peer mentorship
- Individuals will be mentored and connected with local recovery facilities, services, and/or resources
- Each individual is handled using a person-centered philosophy while respecting their privacy
Since its beginning in August 2017, The Link has assisted over 100 students in enrolling in classes and maintaining academic success. With many plans for the future and more to be revealed, it is important to get the word out that our community’s recovery population is represented and accommodated here on campus!
The Link is supported by Student Services and the Dean of Students.
