ENGLISH PLACEMENT VIA ACCUPLACER
Next Generation Accuplacer English consists of 2 sections, Essay and Reading. Details on study materials and test content can be found here.
- The Essay section permits 50 minutes for students to answer a writing prompt and is scored 0-8

Course placement details:
- RDG 098 and ENG 098 are each 3 credit courses designed to build skills in Reading and Writing, respectively. Students who place into either of these classes are also required to take FYE 101 (First Year Experience) as a co-requisite. RDG 098 is not to be taken concurrently with ENG 097 (3 credit)/ENG 101, students with a 237-244 Reading score and a 4 Essay need only take ENG 097/ENG 101.
- ENG 097 (3 credit)/ENG 101 is a 6 credit course pairing intended for students whose placement indicates a need for additional reading assistance. ENG 101 is a transferable college level course.
- ENG 097 (1 credit)/ENG 101 is a 4 credit course pairing intended for students whose placement indicates a need for additional writing assistance. ENG 101 is a transferable college level course.
- ENG 101 is a 3 credit course intended for students who test directly into college level work.
MATH PLACEMENT VIA ACCUPLACER
Next Generation Accuplacer Math consists of 1-2 sections, QAS (Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics) and AAF (Advanced Alegebra and Functions). Details on study materials and test content can be found here.
- The QAS section consists of 20 un-timed multiple questions and is scored 200-300
- The AAF section consists of 20 un-timed multiple questions and is scored 200-300, students showing a high level of proficiency in QAS may be automatically directed to this section of the test

Course placement details:
- MAT 092 is a 4 credit course for students whose placement testing indicates a need for additional arithmetic and basic algebra assistance. Placement is further determined by the student’s intended major and required college level math course.
- MAT 093/MAT 143 is a 4 credit course pairing for students whose placement testing indicates a need for additional support in Statistics. MAT 143, Statistics, is a transferable college level course.
- MAT 097/MAT 162 is a 6 credit course pairing for students whose placement testing indicates a need for additional support in Functions and Modeling. MAT 162, Functions and Modeling, is a transferable college level course.
- MAT 126 (Topics in Math) and MAT 140 (Elements of Math), are each 3 credit college level math courses.
