Counseling Services

Remote Counseling Resources

We are offering remote counseling via phone or Zoom for students during the COVID-19 campus access restrictions. Students who would like to receive a counseling session, please email Melissa Manzi, m_manzi@mwcc.mass.edu, with “counseling” in the subject line. We also have articles posted on the website on the COVID Resources page and have included them in student emails. This page is a helpful resource: http://www.sprc.org/news/resources-support-mental-health-coping-coronavirus-covid-19.

Licensed mental health professionals are available to support and assist students as they cope with personal difficulties that may be interfering with their academic progress. Counseling staff offers crisis intervention, psychoeducational programming, and outreach workshops. Counseling is confidential, short-term, goal-oriented, and free of charge. Personal counselors can also assist students with referrals to outside services in cases where extended therapy or specialized assistance is required. Consultation to faculty, staff and students is also provided.

Confidentiality

Confidentiality will be maintained by adherence to the ethical standards of recognized professional organizations. These standards provide, with some limitations, assurance that a student may address his/her concerns openly with the counselor. Confidentiality is discussed with the student when he or she first visits a counselor.

We hope that you find these webpages helpful during your affiliation with MWCC. Please contact any member of the counseling staff, as needed.
